Baron had been having more "senior moments" recently but was holding his own. He was slowing down a bit more daily but seemed fine, though slow, at dinner time at 6:30, was obviously in trouble at 8:30 and gone by 9:30. As near as we could tell, he had an aneurysm and passed quickly. Rest in peace sweet dog and know you will be, and are, greatly missed!

3-1-02 REUNITED with Original Owner after being stolen 8 YEARS ago!!! If he and the current dog get along, he is now home for good!!!
Vet fees paid by "Tana's Mom" and "Peanut and Tigger's" mom.
Senior gentleman!!
"Baron" is a senior Sheltie, at least 10, neutered, shots current and now shaved to the skin. He was released from the Kalispell shelter but was so badly matted the only choice was to remove all of his hair. His shots are current, his remaining teeth are clean and he is feeling a LOT better now. He romps, he plays and he barks his greetings to you and his joy of being alive. He is enjoying life and would like a family of his own again to share what is left of his time. Want a sweet gent to walk with? Get out your track shoes or he will leave you behind!

Update: Baron was returned by his original owner in April and he is now here as a Sanctuary resident for the rest of his life. The other dog just could not accept an "extra" dog in his space so Baron came back here for his safety. He has been here since the day before Easter, 2001 and here he will stay until he is ready to cross the bridge. Welcome to the Senior Pack sweet boy!!

Update: 4-1-02 The other dog did not want a "brother" so Baron is back where he will stay unless someone wants to give this great dog a retirement home!

Sweet Xena had a bout of pancreatitus in January of this year and she just did not bounce back from that episode. She was slowly going downhill and sadly, got to the point she would no longer eat and there was nothing else the Vet could do for her so the decision was made to help her to the bridge. Know you were well loved here little girl and thank you for 'comforting' me when the time was at hand for your passing. You will remain in my heart forever and be missed just as long!

Xena: Chihuahua/Dachshund, moved in 3-4-01 (Spayed female 10-12 on arrival)

Xena was out of time in the Boise, ID HS and is now here, happy, healthy and well loved. She is a tiny little mite, around 6 pounds, romps with the Chi's but is more interested in sitting on my lap or feet. She has an old injury to her right hind leg so is sort of gimpy but she gets along fine and is a happy little dog. She and Missy keep me warm at night snuggled under the covers with me like tiny bookends, with me being the "book". Welcome to the SDHR pack little dog!!

Gentle, loving, wonderful, bouncing, twirling Fritz was having more and more trouble being able to eat. It was almost like he had forgotten how to get the food in his mouth chewed and swallowed. He had been going steadily downhill, hind legs worked less often and the Vet visit results were that there was nothing more to be done for him so the decision was made to help him cross the bridge. Fritz, your happy bouncing and twirling will be missed but you are now where you have no more pain or problems eating and all body parts work 100% again! I will miss you greatly and will love you forever!

9-12-04 Retired to the care of SDHR due to health problems.
Polite, Senior Gent!
"Fritz" was born in 1990 and is a very polite, quiet, unassuming little Mini Schnauzer. He is house trained, neutered, shots are current and he is now growing a new coat of hair that will keep him warm without the need for his little jacket.

Fritz knows where he wants to be and that is inside most of the time and near his human. He has learned to let himself back in through the dog door but has yet to manage to let himself out on his own.

Fritz is good with other dogs, cats and all humans. He is active, reasonably quiet and a really nice dog. This is a wonderful little fellow that just wants a human of his own again. Are you the one he is looking for? If so, come give him a look and see if he agrees!

Update 5-18-04 Fritz is now totally toothless after his dental and is now feeling a lot better. He was full of infection due to his teeth and he now actually bounces and spins for attention. He is also the first to the food bowl, is eating heartily and is now gaining some much needed weight. He has also mastered going in AND out the dog door!!

Tiny confused little Conan had a nasty bout of Canine Cognitive Dysfuncion that left him bereft of a connection to his surroundings. The poor little dude even was getting "lost" in his own bed and could not figure out how to get out of it at times. He would scream for help at all hours and I knew he no longer had any quality of life left so the decision to help him to the bridge was made. Sadly, he also had company for his passing and hopefully Fritz and Xena helped guide him to the best places to play once there. Your heart was huge little guy but your mind and body just gave out first. Know you will be remembered with many smiles and will be missed greatly!

7-19-05 Retired to the care of SDHR and no longer available for adoption.
Partial Vet fees paid "In loving memory of Jennie", "In loving memory of Bob Lessor" and for "Sweet Pea Cindy". Thank you so much!
Special Needs Senior, blind boy!
"Conan" is a 10 - 12 year old Yorkie from SD found curled up sleeping in the middle of the highway. He weighs about 5 pounds, is neutered, shots are current, definitely in need of grooming and dental work. Right now he is learning his way around his new surroundings. He is good with other dogs, will let them know if they get too "personal" and so far is keeping to himself. As we get to know each other better, updates will be added and his health info will be updated after his vetting is complete.

Update 9-18-04 Conan's vetting is now hopefully complete. He is neutered, shots are current, his remaining teeth are clean and his two oronasal fistulas are now repaired.
