Cheyenne: GSD/Elkhound cross, moved in 10-23-98 (Spayed female, approximately 2 on arrival)

I was taken to the shelter by my "other" people to be put to sleep along with my 4 puppies. We were all saved and brought here. My puppies are finding great new homes and I will stay here and be the token "big" dog. I am loving and gentle and really want to stay here. I am now spayed so there will be no more puppies for me either.

I am the Alpha dog and keep the peace here as dogs come and go. I am a gentle leader and take special care of the old, abused and frightened dogs. Soon all are happy, healthy and ready for their new homes.

Traveller: Shiba Inu, moved in 10-28-98 at approx. 5 months old. (Neutered male)

I was abandoned by my "other" people when they moved and did not choose to take me along. I was caught and turned into the shelter by a nice lady in the neighborhood when she figured out my people were not coming back. I was saved from the shelter and brought home here where I now have many brothers and sisters to play with. I play with all that come here and am the "welcoming" committee.

I am the "clown" of the group though I am also "second in command". I love to play and make sure all new arrivals know their place is behind me. My mom says I am "a very UN Shiba like Shiba" in many ways, whatever that means.

Tigger: Mini Dachshund and Chrissi: Dwarf Mini Dachshund moved in 7-24-03 at approximately 6-8 years old. (Neutered male and Spayed female)

Tigger and Chrissi are wonderful little dogs, loving, happy, short on teeth and long on tongue! They have made major improvements since their arrival. These little dogs were rescued from a puppy mill and were in rough shape on arrival, nearly bald and very fearful. Chrissi went ballistic if a collar or leash were put on her. She had an injury to her larynx, broken ears, broken jaw, broken tail and had a deep fear of men. Now she is a happy, loving, bouncy little girl that proudly wears her collar and tags and will allow a leash as long as I go where she wants to go... Both are now loving little lap rats and well loved here. Welcome sweet dogs!

If you have ever considered adopting a senior canine, yours could be as nice as any of these and pure bred as well!!
