She lives with my parents in the Arnold area. In recent years, my father's allergies have gotten to be quite challenging and they now believe they can no longer keep her. Stormy has lived in a home with older adults most of her life. She has visited local nursing homes to provide canine therapy to the residents. She is primarily an inside dog but is happy to accompany you wherever you go. |
I took him to the vet last week for eye drops and she looked at his lab tests from 6 months ago. His teeth and gums look great. I found out then that he has a heart murmur that I guess he's had most of his life, my mother just never told me. Otherwise he is in great health. He is a happy guy. He will potty in the house if he is not taken out enough but when he gets his walks he is fine. He was registerd as a therapy dog for my mother but so far can't find any paper work on that. He generally likes other dogs but of course with his vision he gets startled. I honestly don't know how he is with children. I know he tends to be snappy when he is startled so he is probably not good with young children. |

"Specs"
Mix/Breed: Pointer mix Sex/Age/Weight: Male, 7 years, 50 lbs Health: Spayed. Up to date on shots. For additional health information, contact the agency listed below. History/Personality: Specs was picked up as a stray by animal control. He had a red bow around his neck but still nobody claimed the very affectionate, loving, happy dog. He gets along with everyone! - kids, men (even in big work boots!), cats, dogs, women - He's just a nice boy! We assume he is housebroken because he is so well behaved and is a gentleman inside and because when he gets out of the kennel he relieves himself for the longest time - a big indication that he's holding it. Specs is very friendly and sweet and always happy to greet everyone he meets. He's good in cars but does bark a lot. He's wonderful on a leash and is a much when it comes to hugs and a scratch behind the ears. The vet seems to think he spent a great deal of time on concrete since his elbows are very calloused. Ideal placement: We think Specs would prefer a more laid back lifestyle than a home filled with chaos. While Specs LOVES going for nice long walks, we certainly could picture him curled up on a nice warm doggie bed and taking a snooze in front of a wood stove. He definitely deserves it! |

"Midnight"
Mix/Breed: Lab/Chow Mix Sex/Age/Weight: Female, 7 years, 50 lbs Health: Spayed. Up to date on shots. For additional health information, contact the agency listed below. History/Personality: As a young pup, Midnight was adopted from PAL 6 years ago. Unfortunately, her elderly owner was forced to move into an apartment and his dear friend couldn't come with him. Now Midnight is looking towards a new phase in her life! Midnight is a very friendly and active doggie. She is great in the car and loves going for walks. Midnight does not have any experience with children, other dogs or cats. Because she hasn't been exposed to much, she needs time to get used to you. Too much commotion make her nervous. Midnight is looking for a quiet home with lot of patience and long leisurely walks. Midnight is a loyal companion looking for a faithful friend |
"Dutchess"
is a 7 year old spayed female. She is very sweet and gentle. Dutchess gets along with both male and female dogs. She is wonderful with children.
Dutchess also gets along with cats...although she likes to play tag with her foster mom's cat. Dutchess has been exposed to horses and sheep, a rooster also visits
in her yard and she does fine with all. Dutchess is just waiting to become part of a family that she can stay with forever. SECURE FENCING IS REQUIRED

"Sweetie"
was rescued from the East Valley Los Angeles, CA animal shelter on her last day. She is a wonderful 8 year old Shepherd/Golden Retriever/Collie mix.
Unfortunately, Sweetie has arthritis/hip dysplasia in her back hips. Since she was at the pound, I have no idea how this condition developed except that from the
looks of her, she was kept as an outdoor dog and did not receive good care from her owners. She was very overweight and her fur was a complete mess - one side of
her hips was thickly matted down with mud. Fortunately, Sweetie has responded well to non-surgical treatment and her overall condition is not hindering!! My husband
and I have been fostering Sweetie for over a year now. But due to the fact that we both work and have other fosters, we cannot give Sweetie nearly enough of the love
and attention that she needs in order to make the best possible recovery. Sweetie's main need now is a new loving home with dedicated parents to take her on short
walks and keep her active. She loves to go on short walks, likes to play with other dogs, loves cats and is fine with children. She is a calm dog who also just loves
to sit in the sun. I love to give her great big hugs...she is a big teddy bear! Sweetie is housebroken and can use the doggie door. She is in good health other than
her arthritis, up to date on shots, spayed and microchipped. She would do fine in a smaller place or with a less active individual.

"Timber"
is a wonderfully wooly, 5 year old, black and white male husky with
gorgeous markings on his face and around his eyes. Timber escaped certain
death at a shelter in TN when he was rescued just minutes before he was
scheduled to be euthanized. He was transported by some generous good
samaritans who had heard his story and wanted desperately to give him a
fresh chance at a forever home.
Timber's foster mom says that he is exceptionally sweet and loving and craves any and all attention that you can spare. He would do best in a home with other beta dogs and with a family that can provide the extra care and love that he needs and craves. Timber is very shy and nervous around dogs that he doesn't know, and would therefore do best interacting with his own "pack" at home. Timber is mostly blind (he can see shadows) due to a hereditary condition that left him with detached retinas. He also suffers from epileptic seizures which are completely controllable with medication. Despite these challenges, Timber is a playful and lively husky who has learned how to successfully navigate his dark world and to partake in everything that a sighted dog would enjoy. He interacts beautifully with small children, enjoys a good romp in the back yard and can manage stairs and daily walks with nothing more than some verbal commands. He is truly a marvel and exhibits an unbreakable spirit and an infectious zest for life despite the obstacles he has encountered. Can you give such a deserving and courageous boy a second chance at a happy and loving home? An Adoption Application is required for adoption. |
"Irwin"
is a 10 year old senior black lab rescued from a San Diego shelter, where he was a favorite of the kennel workers.
He loves hanging out with people, socializing with other dogs, and playing fetch. Irwin is housebroken and has excellent house manners.
He is very spry and active for an older guy, and enjoys long walks. He walks very nicely on leash, and knows basic commands such as sit,
stay, and down. Irwin is currently being fostered in San Diego, where he is enjoying the company of 2 other retrievers, a soft dog bed,
and plenty of squeaky toys. Irwin is looking for a loving family and a comfortable home to share his retirement years. Won't you come and
see Irwin - he is waiting for you!
This pet is: up to date with routine shots, already house trained, altered
"Lorenzo"
Hello! My name is Lorenzo and I am an 11 year old senior black lab mix. I have a very soft coat and soft brown eyes. I am a bit
gray around my muzzle but I am still young at heart. I really love being with people best although I am also good with other dogs as well. No one
knows if I am good with cats yet - I won't say and I haven't seen one since I have been in my foster home. I am not too active, but I still have
plenty of joy in my heart and I am a very happy guy. I am house trained, I like all people that I have met and they really like me too. I am looking
for a loving home and a soft place to lay my head at night (preferably in someone's lap). If you or someone you know want a gentle, sweet guy to hang
out with, tell them to come and meet Lorenzo.

"Shadow"
is about 11 years old now. He would do well in a slow paced adult home. He is friendly, sweet and affectionate. He prefers older children and adults. He does not get along with
most other dogs, but seems fine with cats. He is still very active for his age and loves to go for walks and have play time. He is looking for a retirement home with lots of love where he can live
out his years in comfort and peace. Shadow has a wonderful personality and has been waiting for some good luck to come his way for some time. We just do not want to see this good dog grow old in a
county shelter. He is neutered and current on all vaccinations. He has recently been groomed. I have attached 3 photos to give you an idea of what he looks like. The photos were before his grooming.
The Douglas Animal Shelter is located in our small town of 5,000 people so he hasn't had much exposure with people traffic. We have had him listed on petfinder.com and advertise him weekly on bulletin boards, pet adoption days and newspaper and radio spots. |
"Sargent"
is an 8 year old neutered Akita. He is brown and white in color.
He is big in size but also a big mush. I have two small children and he plays wonderfully with them. His
only down fall is he has a licking problem called allergic dermatitis. He is presently on Amitriptyline
(an anti depressant). and is doing very well, as long as he has his medication he is fine.
|
"Coty"
is a neutered Eurasia (German Shepard/Chow Chow mix) named Coty. He has a red coat and is absolutely
adorable. He is around 12 years old, we are not sure, we adopted him from a shelter and they unfortunately didn't have any paper work on him.
He is very sweet and just wants to be loved to death. Unfortunately with old age comes health problems, he is healthy for the most part and still
very active, runs, plays, etc. but he has developed Epilepsy and has seizures. He is on medication for that and it seems to be helping.
