If you take me home
Will you love me and include me in your lives
or will I end up stuck in a room somewhere
or in a backyard ignored or tied up to a tree?

If you take me home
Will you make sure I am fed with good food
to make me grow healthy and strong
or will I end up eating scraps from the table
and suffer in pain from lack of proper nutrition?

If you take me home
Will you see that I get my shots as needed
to keep me well and free of disease
also to care for my teeth
(as most forget we get cavities and infection too)
Or will I be forgotten as you run low on money
or some other thing seems more important than me?

If you take me home
Will you play with me and talk to me
as I enjoy your attentions and
need the daily love and challenges
the same as all you humans do.

If you take me home
Will you remember that I have feelings too
I suffer emotionally and physically
just like you all do when I'm hurt or ignored.

I"m ready to give you all my love
and watch over you and my new family
with all the love I have in me
